September 3, 2014

This is a great month to volunteer at OLV! Take advantage of these September opportunities!

Joining the auction committee is a great way to get involved in the school’s fundraising efforts.  The fall auction is our major fundraiser for the school year.  The funds from this event go directly to scholarships for students and the operation of the school.  If our fundraisers are successful we are able to keep the cost of tuition as low as possible!  The best way to have a successful auction is to have many volunteers as possible involved.  Come to a Thursday night meeting and find out what you can do to make this year’s auction a success!

Every year the kindergarten class creates a beautiful quilt that is auctioned off at the school auction.  Each kindergartener will create a special square.  These squares are then sewn together by a member of the school community.  If you can sew or know someone who can, please call the school office.  The quilt should be ready to be put together by the end of September.

Our School library is funded completely by the semi-annual book fairs held on our school grounds.  Through the generosity of the community we are able to keep our library current with grade appropriate books for student research, fiction and non-fiction reading material.  The book fair is open from 9:00am until 5:00pm for a full week and Mrs. Martin will need volunteers to help organize and run the event.  If you are interested in helping out please contact Mrs. Martin: martin@fresnoolv.org.

On a final note there have been many requests for information on the many fundraisers being held for Charlie DeGrange.  We have tickets for the Tahoe Joe dinner in the office.  The cost is $22.00.  The link to buy a Charlie DeGrange tee shirt is please go to the following link: www.booster.com/support-charliedegrange

Go in peace and don’t run in the halls!

Quotes from Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997) “People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.  Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  Be kind any way.  If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.  Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.  Be honest anyway.”

Special Thanks To: Our fall coaches!  They are Bruce Vetter, Mark Trukki, and Larry Collins. Special thanks to Alison Trukki who once again has agreed to be our athletic director. If you see any of these people thank them for all they will do for the children of OLV School!

Pray For: Mr. Joshua Chipps as he recovers from a car accident; Mrs. Simas as she recovers from an appendectomy; Adam Lee’s grandmother as she recovers from a serious infection in her leg; Charlie DeGrange and his family.
