May 13, 2014

May is a busy month for all of us:  ball games, field trips, the carnival, Cinco de Mayo and of course graduations.  My favorite part of this month is First Holy Communion.

This year our third graders received their Sacrament of First Eucharist from Father Borges.  He was wonderful to our students and his homily enriched their understanding of the Eucharist.  On behalf of the Our Lady of Victory School, I thank Father Borges for his service to our community!

Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion is a two year process.  Ms. Perez and Mrs. Marquez did an excellent job preparing our students for these Sacraments.  They truly understand the importance of the Sacraments and each student showed reverence and prayerfulness during the Mass.  Thank you teachers and parents for supporting our third graders through their sacramental journey!

After the Mass the 2nd grade families hosted a reception for the third graders and their guests.  There was plenty of delicious pastries and cake for everyone to enjoy. Many thanks to Mrs. Saldate and the 2nd grade parents for all their efforts in making the reception beautiful as well as delicious!

On a final note… the Spring Concert will be held at the church on May 22nd at 2:00pm.  All are welcome to attend!  Have a blessed week, go in peace and don’t run in the halls!

Our Lady of Fatima This feast commemorates the visions of Our Lady seen near Fatima in Portugal in 1917, by three shepherd children, Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco.  The visions occurred on the 13th day of each month from May to October, and by October huge crowds were gathering at the site of the visions and reporting visions and miraculous occurrences themselves.

Special Thanks To: The booster club for sponsoring the luau dance this Saturday! To Father Borges, Mrs. Marquez, Ms. Perez, staff and parents who made First Holy Communion beautiful!

Pray For: Ms. Cook’s father as he recovers from surgery. Father Dan Avila as he prepares to begin his ministry at Our Lady of Victory Parish.

Prayers of the Day God in heaven, hear my prayer, keep me in Thy loving care. Be my guide in all I do,bless all those who love me too.
