May 7, 2014

We are truly a blessed community! Among our blessings are beautiful children, parents, staff and friends.

On Friday, Father Dan Avila celebrated Mass in Mary’s Grotto.  Four years ago a group of dedicated members of our community decided to renovate the grotto to reflect the beautiful spirit of our children.  I wish those people could have seen our beautiful children attending Mass in the beautiful grotto.  It was also the first time our pre school students attended Mass with the rest of the student body!  They were well behaved and prayerful as they went up for their blessing.  At the end of Mass, Father Dan announced that he would be our pastor beginning July 1, 2014.  This news is a wonderful blessing for our community of believers!

On Saturday, our Science Olympiad Team competed against 1000 students representing twenty schools from Fresno Unified School District.  Each event had about 100 students competing  and several of our students placed!  In Aerodynamics, Joaquin Reyes-Cuerva and Ryan Nakada placed 2nd.  In the Egg Drop and Mystery Architecture, Gibson Patton and Phillip Garcia placed 4th   in both events.  Also, placing 4th in the Egg Drop was the team of Leslie Hernandez and Nadiyah Diaz.  This team also placed 7th in the StrawTower event.  Thanks to all the parents and teachers who coached our team.  Especially Mrs. Marquez and Mrs. Anderson!  We are blessed abundantly with staff and families who care for our students successes!

On Sunday, our annual school carnival and raffle took place.  God blessed us with perfect weather, great entertainment delicious food and fun games!  This was my 29th carnival and most definitely one of my favorites.  I think Monsignor Moreton interceded to God to give us good weather, but everything else came from good organization and hard work!  I offer thanks and appreciation to Marlene Dawson, the carnival chairperson, the carnival committee, Betty Kempen, Amy Hirata and Sheri Vetter and all of our families and friends who made the carnival a successful event!  We are blessed with a community that puts its children first!

Have a blessed week.  Go in peace and don’t run in the halls!
