October 23, 2013

The dictionary explains perseverance as… “to go on resolutely in spite of difficulties.”  Parents must persevere through busy schedules, homework, child care and much more.  As a Catholics, we persist in doing what is right, paying attention to social justice issues, raising our children in the faith and fighting temptation.  As a parent of a student in a Catholic school, we add whole new meanings to the word persevere!

The OLV Dinner/Auction is only two weeks away and the committee is persevering with style.  The auction is our biggest fundraiser and it takes a great deal of organization to make it successful.  Sara McCraw and Elisha Nikada are doing just that!  They are still in need of silent and live auction items so please persist in procuring them.

At the auction there will be some great items to bid on.  How about a trip to Mexico or Costa Rica?  The trip to Mexico will include 8 days and 7 nights in a private villa. The Costa Rica trip is 8 days and 7 nights at a beach house. If you have a kindergarten or eighth grade student make sure you check out the Buddy Picture!  The picture was taken last Friday morning and it is beautiful.   Any of these items will help you persevere through the tough times!

We have two JV tournaments this weekend.  If you are in need of volunteer both events could use some help.  The JV volleyball team will be play at St. Anthony’s school on Saturday October 26th. Coach Crabtree needs some volunteers to be line judges and score keepers.  Both jobs are easy!  The JV football tournament will be held at our school on Friday October 25th and 26th.  Mrs. Trukki could use some help with setting up the fields and donations for the snack bar (please see flyer in family envelope).  The snack bar menu sounds delicious.  Breakfast burritos, bean and cheese burritos, hot dogs, soft drinks and much much more!  Of course all the proceeds benefit all our sports teams!

Go forth and persevere and persist!  Go in peace and don’t run in the halls.
