March 31, 2015

When I am worried, I reflect on the gospel story of Simon Peter and his friends who are fishing.  They had fished all day and caught nothing.  Jesus saw them on the water and called out, “Friends haven’t you any fish?” They answered “No.” Jesus replied, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Last Friday’s golf tournament was a great example of this story.  Mr. Cardinale and Mr. Ledesma worked hard to create a successful event.  At times it seemed that our nets were empty but God took care of us and in the end our nets were full! He gave us perfect weather, delicious food, and the delightful companionship of friends and family.  This year’s first place trophy went to team Kempen!  The coveted last place trophy, breaking my personal three year losing streak, went to our own Father Dan and his team of golfers!  I am personally grateful to all of you who golfed, donated and gave your time to the golf tournament!

I am concerned that our Cash Raffle sales are low.  This event is our last major fundraiser and most of our community is not helping share the load.  Please remember that the actual cost to educate a student at Our Lady of Victory School far exceeds a full tuition.  The parent club fundraisers help fill this gap.  If we all get in Peter’s boat and help pull in the net God will take care of the rest! As an incentive to sell cash raffle tickets, any family that sells 8 tickets (not including the free tickets), may earn one parent hour per ticket.  You may earn up to four parent hours this way.

Later on this week you will receive an email containing recorded parent hours.  If your number of hours completed is incorrect please contact the office and make the correction.  Have a blessed Easter and a restful vacation! Go in peace and don’t run in the halls!
