Home   Principals Letter   June 3, 2014

June 3, 2014

I feel as though the beginning of the year was yesterday and I closed my eyes for a moment and the year was gone!  For me, this year has been one like no other.  There were great joys and blessings, but also great sadness.

The year began with a 33% increase in enrollment as we welcomed our Sacred Heart families to our campus.  This blessing became great joy as we blended into one Catholic school family!   Sister Kathleen, former Sacred Heart principal, spoke at the eighth grade graduation award ceremony.  She said that all of us were a testament to Catholic education and to keep fighting for it!

When Monsignor became ill and passed away we all felt a deep sense of loss and sorrow.  He was our spiritual leader, a fearless Catholic school supporter and friend.  He had a unique way of making all who knew him feel important and special.  The part of Monsignor Moreton’s personality I enjoyed most was his rebellious nature!  It is fitting that he was the leader of the Our Lady of Victory Rebels!

Although Monsignor Moreton’s spirit and essence will always be with us, we are blessed to have Father Dan Availa as our new pastor.  Father Dan has captured the hearts of our students with his inspirational homilies.  Each homily is combination of humor, philosophical thought and a life challenge. For the first time in many years I hear students saying, “I want to be a priest”!  Father Dan is more than a blessing he is an answer to prayers.

In July I will send to you the first letter of the 2014-2015 school year.  Until then please know that all of you have been a great blessing in my life! Go in peace and enjoy the blessings of summer.

Sincerely,
