Although I enjoy my job as principal, I have to admit I miss teaching. Mrs. Martin was ill today and I had the pleasure of taking over the 6th grade teaching duties. Mrs. Martin’s teaching plans included a science lab. Students used candy pieces to build sodium chloride crystal models. The students were engaged as they built and discussed their models. These models looked authentic and delicious. Best of all they smelled great! This was much more fun than writing the annual school report!
Next week the season of Advent begins! During this time our Church asks us to prepare ourselves for the birth of Christ. At school we will participate in Advent in several ways. At morning prayer we will light the Advent Wreath and our morning readings and prayers will center on preparing ourselves for the birth of Christ. In religion class students will learn more about the history of advent and the meaning behind each week. Lastly, as a school community we are collecting toys for the Holy Cross Women’s Center. There is an informational flyer giving specifics about the toy drive in this mailing. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
I hope all of you enjoyed the Thanksgiving break! There are only three weeks of school before the Christmas break and those three weeks will be busy. Teachers and students will be preparing for the Christmas musical extravaganza! Besides our annual play, we will hear the choir sing some special songs and the violin students will perform. Also the Parent Club has kicked off the Car Raffle. We are off to a great start with 300 sold over the Thanksgiving break! Remember… Do your best and let God handle the rest. Go in peace and don’t run in the halls.
