November 6, 2012

Dear Parents,

Ordinarily my weekends are filled with chores and errands and rarely do I have time to finish them all. The weekend the clocks move back is my favorite weekend of the year. That extra hour of sleep makes everything better. I sleep better, wake up earlier and even though I know it is just an hour, it seems that I get more done. This weekend I took advantage of this extra time and traveled to St. Helen’s School to watch our JV Football team participate in the PAL Tournament. What I saw was a classic, never to be forgotten game, with OLV winning in the final seconds. The boys went on to take second place in the tournament and 2nd place in the league. Their trophy will soon be displayed in our trophy case!

Our JV boys and girls teams are comprised of 4th, 5th and 6th graders. This fall season both of our teams learned and developed skill in both volleyball and football. They played fair and were courteous to their opponents. I have been very proud of all their efforts this season! I am looking forward to seeing our students participate in basketball this winter! It is my favorite team sport.

Thank you to Tara Crabtree, Mark Sauceda and John Esquivel for the many hours of coaching they have given our students. I also thank Alison Trukki for her service as Athletic Director. Alison has put in many hours organizing home games and representing our school at the league meetings. She is doing a wonderful job! Anyone who is interested in helping out during the winter season, please contact Allison through the school office.

Do your best and let God do the rest! Go in peace and don’t run in the halls.

Sincerely,
Deborah J.V. Nettell
